Online Essential ExtendSim Training

The Online Essential Training course covers the same content as the 4-day In-Person Essentials course, but in an online instructor-led class through GoToMeeting™. You’ll learn the basics of discrete event simulation plus get an essential understanding of the ExtendSim architecture.

The online course consists of nine 1.5 to 2 hour sessions over the course of 2+ weeks plus an optional one-on-one post-course session. Each session begins at 7am EST/UTC-5 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays throughout the 2 week training course. The ninth session, held on the third Monday, will review concepts covered in the course and answer any remaining questions.

Homework assignments will be given on most days so attendees can practice concepts covered in class, plus a couple of case studies will be assigned each week to be completed outside of class time. It will be expected that each student plan to spend 1 to 2 hours outside of class each day completing assigned homework to fully comprehend the material.

Prerequisites and Preparation for the Course

Basic Window computer skills and a knowledge of basic statistics (random distributions and confidence intervals) is recommended.

Before your first day of class, it will be extremely helpful if you familiarize yourself with ExtendSim. If you have not already done so, please go through the Tutorials in the Discrete Event Quick Start Guide or watch its video.

For the online course, be sure you have a Model Developer Edition of ExtendSim Pro installed on your computer. If you have not yet purchased and activated ExtendSim, you may use the Trial version. Just be careful not to begin your Trial period with the software any earlier than the week before the online course begins as you only have 30 days in your Trial period.
