Boeing Talent Acquisition is currently looking for a Senior Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer to join the Analytics & Digital Solutions team in Seattle, WA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Global Services (BGS) business organization.
They need a senior systems engineer with a strong background in modeling & simulation, in application development, as well as in architecting applications, ideally with experience in distributed environments. This position involves both developing and extending a suite of simulation software as well as performing analysis and modeling specific scenarios.
Their team is modeling and simulating logistics and supply chain processes to enable designs that optimize logistics performance for Boeing’s government services customers. Their main technical focus area currently centers on Model-Based Sustainment (MBS) and its applications to the digital thread and digital twin in order to best support both Boeing and non-Boeing platforms once in service.
Their team has built a suite of modeling and simulation capabilities based on ExtendSim, the commercial software of choice for discrete event-based simulations. Models are developed using ExtendSim’s MODL scripting language and Python for data exchange and data integration with other applications and data sources.
This position will offer you the opportunity to develop new models, apply your system engineering skills to Boeing use cases, and provide technical guidance, training and mentorship to junior team members. It will also offer the opportunity to guide the migration of their suite of tools to a cloud environment.
Manages, develops, and extends Boeing's suite of modeling and simulation software.
Develops requirements and executes project plans to model scenarios for specific use cases.
Develops and maintains strategic partnerships with customers, stakeholders, and peers.
Exercises critical thinking and innovative problem solving.
Develops roadmaps for building new modeling and simulation capabilities.
Leads project teams for developing capabilities or modeling activities.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Deepens integration with other functions, capabilities, and systems to enable model based sustainment solutions.
This position requires the ability to obtain an active U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Export Control Requirement:
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Strong expertise in modeling and simulation with strong background in programming, software engineering, and application development.
10+ years of expertise in modeling & simulation, system engineering, ideally applied to platform services and maintenance and/or platform operations.
10+ years of experience with software development, systems architecture, programming.
10+ years of technical leadership.
5+ years of experience with ExtendSim and its applications logistics and supply chain modeling.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with any of the following is desired:
Excellent communicator, able to address both technical and business audiences at various levels.
5+ years experience in programming using MODL preferred.
5+ years experience in programming using C/C++.
3+ years experience in programming using Python.
Expertise in modeling logistics and supply chain processes, platform services, and platform operations.
Familiarity with export rules and ITAR regulations.
Experience with work in classified environments.
Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years' related work experience, 10 years' related work experience, etc.).
