Important changes to be aware of in ExtendSim 2026:
- More licensing flexibility. With ExtendSim 2026, customers can now choose the licensing model that best fits their needs. New Subscription licenses provide predictable annual pricing with updates, upgrades, and technical support included. Customers who prefer long-term ownership can continue using Perpetual licenses, which remain fully supported through the Maintenance & Support Plan (MSP). Both licensing options provide access to the full power of ExtendSim 2026 while offering greater flexibility in budgeting and software management.
- ExtendSim 2026 requires a new Activation Key. ExtendSim 2024 and ExtendSim 2026 can coexist on the same computer while you transition your models to the new release.
- Backward compatibility: ExtendSim 2026 can open and run models created in earlier ExtendSim versions. However, once a model is saved in ExtendSim 2026, it cannot be opened in prior versions.
- Upgrading from ExtendSim DE? ExtendSim DE has been discontinued with the release of ExtendSim 2026. Existing ExtendSim DE customers with an active MSP can be upgraded to ExtendSim Pro and for the first year following the release of ExtendSim 2026, can renew at a discounted MSP rate. Subsequent years MSP will be charged at the ExtendSim Pro rate.
- Running on virtual machines (VMs) and remote environments: Individual licenses can be installed on VMs but require VM authorization within the Activation Key before they can launch. Authorization is also required for Remote Desktop and similar remote-access scenarios.
- Floating Licenses: Client installations may be installed on physical or virtual machines. Existing License Managers used for ExtendSim 2024 can also manage ExtendSim 2026 licenses. Alternatively, you may install a new License Manager for ExtendSim 2026.
- Client license files: After upgrading a Floating License, Client devices will require an updated license file to launch ExtendSim 2026.
- Node-Locked licenses and VMs: ExtendSim 2026 Node-Locked licenses cannot run on VMs. Contact ExtendSim Sales to discuss Floating License options.
ExtendSim Package You're Upgrading From and To
As long as your Maintenance & Support Plan (MSP) is current, you are eligible to upgrade to ExtendSim 2026. You can download ExtendSim 2026 and begin using it in Trial mode while we prepare your new Activation Key.
You may choose to continue with your Perpetual license or move to a Subscription license. If you remain with your Perpetual license, we will send you a new ExtendSim 2026 Activation Key, and your MSP renewal date will remain the same. Your ExtendSim 2024 license will expire on that renewal date, so we encourage you to move your models to ExtendSim 2026 as soon as you can.
If your MSP has expired, we will provide you with a quote to reinstate your MSP.
