Important changes to be aware of in ExtendSim 2024
- ExtendSim 10 and ExtendSim 2024.R1 are different products so you will be receiving a new Activation Key for ExtendSim 2024. Both licenses can easily coexist on a single machine while you transition your models to the new release.
- ExtendSim 2024.R1 is not backwards compatible. It can open and run models built in ExtendSim 10 seamlessly, but once it a model is saved in ExtendSim 2024.R1, it will no longer be readable by ExtendSim 10.
- Individual licenses can be installed on virtual machines (VMs), but will not launch unless activated. Permission must be granted within the Activation Key (AK) to run on a VM.The end user’s username on the VM they are using ExtendSim on is required to grant permission for launching on the VM through its AK.
- Node-Locked licenses of ExtendSim 2024 will NOT run on VMs. If you are running an ExtendSim 10 Node-Locked license on a VM and want to upgrade to 2024, we'll need to set you up with a Floating license.
- Client devices of Floating licenses are not impacted by this change and can be installed on a VM.
- Floating licenses -- Your License Manager for ExtendSim 10 can also manage your ExtendSim 2024 license. Or you may choose to install the License Manager for ExtendSim 2024 on a new Server. Regardless, Client devices will need a new license file (extendsim.lic) to launch ExtendSim 2024.
- The ability to use Multicore Analysis to launch multiple instances of ExtendSim is contingent on a current Maintenance & Support Plan (MSP). If your MSP expires, you can still use ExtendSim, but can only launch one instance of ExtendSim.
- ART Individual, Floating, and Node-Locked are now subject to an annual fee to maintain the ability to use Multicore Analysis.
